McIlroy won his first major aged just 22 at the U.S Open in 2011, in the same year he received an MBE from the Queen in her New Year's honours list. Since then he has won a further 3 (2 in 2014). He became the first European to win 3 different majors and has become one of the most marketable, and top-earning, sportsmen in history, largely thanks to a lucrative sponsorship deal with Nike which he signed in 2013.
His golfing achievements to date include 9 PGA Tour wins, 9 European Tour wins as well as a victory in each the Asian Tour and the PGA Tour of Australasia.
